Monday Morning Smile: "Obsession" - OK Go

Time once again for the Official Band of Zooglobble's Monday Morning Smile, OK Go!  Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the band released their latest video off their album, Hungry Ghosts, for the song "Obsession."  This one stars the band and 567 printers.  I don't think it quite reaches the giddy, hit-the-repeat-button-immediately heights of, say, "The One Moment," or "This Too Shall Pass," but it's a lot of fun regardless.

Monday Morning Smile: "The One Moment" - OK Go

OK Go is the official artist of "Monday Morning Smile."  This latest video hit the internet just before Thanksgiving, and at least twice over the holiday break I went down the rabbit hole with the family with all the other incredibly elaborate videos they've done.

For "The One Moment," they took 4.2 seconds of incredibly precisely calibrated motion and activity, slowed waaaaaaay the heck down and created something really beautiful (and something that just about demands a repeat viewing once you've seen it the first time.  (My kids and wife did, and so did I, anyway.)  "This Too Shall Pass" is still my favorite video of theirs, but this is a close second.

Video: "Time to Make the Donuts" - Recess Monkey

Novelties album cover

For adults of a certain age, the phrase "time to make the donuts" will probably ring a certain set of bells.  Our kids, though?  That phrase will be linked with Recess Monkey.

That's because for their brand new album Novelties! (their thirteenth, and first for Amazon Music), they've got the catchy track "Time to Make the Donuts," and a video whose choreographed swooping and strutting seems like something out of an early OK Go video.  Jack sings while Drew and Korum step in and out of the frame with all manner of donut-related equipment in Seattle's own Top Pot Doughnuts' kitchen.  The video, filmed by Aaron Horton, is thoroughly charming.

By the way, for the next week (through June 23rd), you can grab a copy of "Time to Make the Donuts" for free right here.

Monday Morning Smile: "Upside Down & Inside Out" - OK Go

Let's face it, OK Go aren't the unofficial video band for adults on Zooglobble... they're pretty much the official video for adults on Zooglobble.

You probably saw their latest video a dozen times on Facebook.  If you didn't, or if your kids didn't, you really should see this.  Filming a video in zero gravity could be a gimmick.   Or it could be brilliant.  This is brilliant.

Monday Morning Smile: "Needing/Getting" - OK Go

If OK Go's songs were as consistently entertaining as their videos, they would be the world's biggest band. As it stands, they are merely the world's biggest conceptual artists. I mean, they created a video in which they play the music by driving through a race course and having implements attached to their car play instruments played along the course. And they got a corporate sponsor to pay for it. So, in case you haven't seen it yet... OK Go - "Needing/Getting" [YouTube] A bonus OK Go video after the jump...
