The latest (and greatest? yes, greatest) video from Oklahoma's Sugar Free Allstars goes life-size in its song about crankypants of all ages.  The video for "Grumpopotamus (and the Crankosaurus Rex)" from their most recent self-titled album features the title characters, who seem like they should be mascots for a minor-league baseball team somewhere, (gently) expressing displeasure and general raucousness to the tune with a killer singalong chorus.

Crankosaurus Rex's arms seem to be slightly longer than his (or her) older brother Tyrannosaurus, for what it's worth, dinosaur experts.

World Premiere: "Archaeology" - Danny Weinkauf

Danny Weinkauf has released a number of videos for his poptastic album for families No School Today and I'm pleased to bring you the world premiere of his latest video from the album.  It's for "Archaeology," and seeing as he also wrote and sang a little song called "I Am a Paleontologist," perhaps Weinkauf is now attempting to corner the kindie market on these aged issues.

In any case, the video from Yvonne Grzenkowicz is a little kinetic wordplay mixed with some rock.  Or, er, rocks.  Enjoy!

Monday Morning Smile: "Wayne the Stegosaurus"

I love this idea.  Motionpoems is a Minnesota-based non-profit that essentially facilitates music videos for poetry.  Now, it's not quite Tawny Kitaen rocking out to John Ashbery, but the results, featuring hand-picked poems and video artists, are intriguing to see.

Most of the poems are geared for adults, but one of the most recent, "Wayne the Stegosaurus," is for readers of all ages.  It's a poem by well-known children's poet Kenn Nesbitt, and the animation is from Jeffrey Dates and Aran Quinn.  I mean, if you don't want to watch after seeing the still below, then you are not a poetry or dinosaur fan.

From the first time I heard Lori Henriques' The World Is a Curious Place To Live, her song "Dinosaur," with its wistful (but hopeful) love song for the long-extinct animals was a favorite of mine.  Now it has a video worthy of its delicate, thoughtful nature.
